B. Sc Nursing Information under West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed in the year 1962 for the purpose of holding Common Entrance Examinations for admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in the State of West Bengal and was reconstituted in 2014 for the purpose of conducting joint entrance examinations for selecting students for admission to the under graduate and post graduate course in engineering, technology, management and such other professional, vocational and general degree courses in various educational institutions rendering professional, vocational and general education in West Bengal. The endeavour of the Board has always been directed towards enhancement of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology.

In this academic sessions, the Board will conduct common entrance examinations titled JENPAUH-2016 for admission to a) B.H.M.S. (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery), b) B.A.M.S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery), c) B.U.M.S. (Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery), d) B.Sc. Nursing (Bachelor of Nursing), e) B.P.T. (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) and f) B.A.S.L.P. (Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology) courses in Colleges/ Institutes in the State of West Bengal. The application for this examination will be received ONLINE at the portal of the Board at http://www.wbjeeb.in

Examination & Question Pattern:

The test will consist of the two papers namely a) Biological Sciences (100 marks) and b) Physics & Chemistry (100 marks). Each paper will contain fifty (50) questions.
All questions will be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type. Answers are to be marked (bubbled) on OMR Answer Sheets using black /blue ball point pen.
Each question will have four answer options of which only one is correct. Each correct response will fetch 2 marks, each incorrect response will fetch (-1/2) mark, whereas no response will fetch zero mark. Multiple responses for any question will fetch (-1/2) mark.
The questions will be in English and Bengali language.

Syllabus:

Question will be based on the syllabus of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE).

RANKING METHODOLOGY & RULES FOR TIE-BREAKING:

In JENPAUH-2016 there will be two merit lists: (i) for B.H.M.S., B.A.M.S., B.U.M.S., B.P.T. and B.A.S.L.P. taken together (ii) for B.Sc. Nursing. Merit list for successful candidates will be prepared by listing them in the descending order of the total marks scored by them. However, there may be ties and such ties will be broken by sequentially applying the following set of rules:

1. Less negative marks in Biology, Physics & Chemistry taken together 2. More positive marks in Biology and Chemistry taken together 3. More positive marks in Biology and Physics taken together 4. Less negative marks in Biology and Chemistry taken together 5. Less negative marks in Biology and Physics taken together

During generation of the merit list, if after applying the 5 rules stated above there are still ties, same will be broken by the date of birth (DOB) of the concerned candidates; the older candidate will be given preference over the younger one.

Eligibility:


Nationality:- The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Age:- Not less than 17 years as on running year.

Domicile criteria:

Candidates of states other than West Bengal may be considered for admission to non-Govt. Colleges/Institutions. However, for admission to Govt. Colleges candidates must be domicile of West Bengal.

Only those candidates will be treated as domicile of West Bengal who are either,
a) Residing in West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2015.
OR
b) Whose parent(s) is/are permanent resident(s) of West Bengal having permanent address within the State of West Bengal.
In case of a) above, the certificate is to be obtained in pro forma A-I or pro forma B. In case of b) above, the certificate is to be obtained in pro forma A-II. Pro forma A-I and A-II are to be certified by government officials as detailed below and pro forma B is to be certified by the head of the institution wherefrom the candidate passes or appeared 10+2 level examination.

Competent authority to issue domicile certificate:


Pro forma A-I or B must be signed and certified by any of the following competent authorities from Central Government or State Government having local jurisdiction over the place of the permanent residence of the concerned candidate or his/her parents, as the case may be, viz.

I. District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Magistrate, Deputy Collector, Sub - Divisional Officer, Block Development Officer.

II. Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police,

III. Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner of Police Commissionerate.

IV. Judicial Magistrate of any rank or position in the concerned district or Metropolitan locality or Hon'ble High Court at Calcutta or Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.

V. Corporation Area - Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner.

VI. Assistant Secretary or above in the Secretariat to the Government of West Bengal (including GTA) or Central Government.

VII. Deputy Director or above in the Directorate to the Government of West Bengal or Central Government.

Every official certifying the Domicile Status of the candidate or his/her parents, MUST provide his/her FULL NAME, DESIGNATION, PLACE OF POSTING WITH ADDRESS, LANDLINE/ MOBILE NUMBER. He/she should also provide his/her IDENTITY CARD NUMBER if available. CERTIFICATION FROM ANY AUTHORITY OTHER THAN THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN ENUMERATED ABOVE 'WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Note: Domicile certificates issued by any elected people's representative such as municipal commissioner, councillor of Municipal Corporation/ Municipality, member of three-tier Panchayat system or GTA, MLA or MP are not acceptable for WBJEEM-2016.

Proforma A-II must be signed and certified by the Head of the Institution from which the candidate has passed or will appear in 10+2 examination. Such certificate must be issued after verification of the school education record of the candidate.

Procedure for submission of domicile certificate:

The prescribed Proforma is available in the portal. The proforma as applicable to the candidate has to be downloaded and two copies are to be printed on A4 size white paper.
Get both copies of the Certificate filled in properly and duly authenticated/signed by a competent Authority as per the list provided above.
Upload a scanned copy of the filled-in and authenticated Domicile Certificate in document uploading stage of online application.
The Duplicate Copy of the Certificate is to be retained with the Office of the Issuing Authority for future reference/verification.
The candidate must retain the Original Certificate and shall have to produce it during counselling and admission.

Note: Candidates claiming as domicile of West Bengal need to upload only any one of the three types of certificates.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:


(a) B.H.M.S. and B.P.T.:
The candidate should have passed in the year 2016 or earlier or appeared in the year 2016 at the Higher Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent Board/Council of examination recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. He/she must have subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Vernacular or any other 5th subject. For admission he/she must have Individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(b) B.A.M.S.:
The candidate should have passed in the year 2016 or earlier or appeared in the year 2016 at the Higher Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent Board/Council of examination recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. He/she must have subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Vernacular or any other 5th subject. For admission he/she must have 50% (Fifty percent) aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together.

(c) B.U.M.S.:
The candidate should have passed in the year 2016 or earlier or appeared in the year 2016 at the Higher Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent Board/Council of examination recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. He/she must have subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Vernacular or any other 5th subject. For admission he/she must have 50% (Fifty percent) aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. Candidates should have passed 10th standard with Urdu or Arabic or Persian as a subject, or clear the test of Urdu in the entrance examination conducted by the University or Board or recognized society authorized by the Government to conduct such examination.

(d) B.Sc. Nursing:
Only female candidates are eligible.
The candidate should have passed in the year 2016 or earlier or appeared in the year 2016 at the Higher Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent Board/Council (such as AISSCE / CBSE / ICSE / SSCE / HSCE etc.) of examination recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. For admission he/she must have 50% marks (40% for SC/ST) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together and pass marks in each subject individually.

(e) B.A.S.L.P (Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology):
The candidate should have passed in the year 2016 or earlier or appeared in the year 2016 at the Higher Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent Board/Council of examination recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. He/she must have subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics/ Computer science/ Statistics/ Electronics/ Psychology.

RESERVATION:


In respect of reservation of seats, applicable acts/rules of the Government of West Bengal prevailing at the time of admission will be followed. SUCH RESERVATION IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CANDIDATES DOMICED IN WEST BENGAL.
List of such reserved seats will be available in this portal before counselling.
Candidates seeking reserved seats need to upload SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD certificates issued by competent authority during document uploading stage. Admit card is issued after receipt of the certificate only. But the certificates are checked/ verified during counseling. As such, just uploading the certificate does not ensure a reserved seat. If during counseling the certificate is found faulty (where decision of the counselor is final), the candidate can no more claim reservation.

SC/ ST certificate:


SC/ST certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities,
a) (i) Deputy Collector of Land Revenue, Kolkata ii) Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata iii)Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata iv) Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata v)
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata vi) 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate vii) Executive Magistrate viii) Sub-divisional Magistrate ix) Sub-divisional Officer x) Deputy Collector xi) Additional District Magistrate xii) Collector and xiii) District Magistrate within their respective local jurisdictions - In case the candidate ordinarily resides within such jurisdictions.

b) (i) Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare Directorate, W.B. (ii) Commissioner, Backward classes welfare W.B. - In case the candidate ordinarily resides in any part of West Bengal.
THE CERTIFICATE UPLOADED AND SUBMITTED BY THE CANDIDATE FOR CLAIMING RESERVATION UNDER SC/ST QUOTA MUST HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY AS SPECIFIED ABOVE ON A DATE PRIOR TO THE SUBMISSION OF THE ACTUAL ONLINE APPLICATION. CERTIFICATE ISSUED ON A LATER DATE BY ANY AUTHORITY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION THROUGH COUNSELLING.

OBC-A/ OBC-B Candidates
As per Notification no. 374(71)-TW/EC/MR-103/94 dated 27/7/1994, read with memorandum no. 1204- SBCW/MR-67/10 dated 27/7/2015 issued by Backward Classes Welfare Department. Govt. of W.B., the Sub Divisional Officer of a Sub-Division in a District is certificate issuing authority. In Kolkata such certificate is issued by such an officer as the State Government by modification authorizes. Accordingly, the District Welfare Officer, Kolkata and Ex-officio Joint Director, BCW has been notified to act as the certificate issuing authority in respect of Kolkata covering the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

THE CERTIFICATE UPLOADED AND SUBMITTED BY THE CANDIDATE FOR CLAIMING RESERVATION UNDER OBC-A/ OBC-B QUOTA MUST HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY AS SPECIFIED ABOVE, ON A DATE PRIOR TO THE SUBMISSION OF THE ACTUAL ONLINE APPLICATION. CERTIFICATE ISSUED ON A LATER DATE BY ANY AUTHORITY, WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION THROUGH COUNSELLING.

PwD (Persons with Disabilities):
PwD certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities,
Officer-in-Charge or Medical Head of Primary Health Centres, Block Primary Health Centres, State General Hospitals, Rural Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals or the District Hospitals run by the State Government or any hospital run by a statutory body or authority.
